Terms & conditions
This policy is being finalised
The sections describing how this website works — how an order is formed, how prices and VAT are shown, how payment is taken — are accurate and in force.
The commercial sections marked below, including returns, warranties and limits of liability, are with the business and its advisers for approval. They are not yet final, and we will not rely on an unapproved term against a customer.
In the meantime, please contact us or call 020 7437 4989 and we will confirm anything you need to know before you buy.
About these terms
These terms apply when you buy goods from Romanys Ltd through this website. We are a company trading from 51 Brewer Street, Soho, London W1F 9UQ and 13 Shepherd Street, Mayfair, London W1J 7HT.
Nothing in these terms reduces your statutory rights. If you are buying as a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights about goods being of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and those rights apply whatever this page says.
How an order is formed
This is how the website actually works, step by step.
- Adding items to your basket is not an order. Prices and availability are re-checked every time your basket is displayed.
- When you place an order, we confirm receipt by email. That email is an acknowledgement, not acceptance.
- A contract is formed when we accept your order — when we confirm it is ready to collect, or when we dispatch it.
- If we cannot fulfil an order, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid. We will not substitute a different product without asking you first.
Every order is given a reference beginning RM-. Please quote it in any correspondence.
Prices and VAT
Prices are shown both inclusive and exclusive of VAT, and you can switch between them using the control at the top of every page. Your choice is remembered on your device and affects display only — it never changes what you are charged.
The price you pay is the price shown in your basket at the moment you place the order, recalculated on our server. If a price changes after you have added something to your basket, the basket tells you before you pay.
VAT is charged at the prevailing rate and shown as a separate line in your basket, at checkout and on your order confirmation. Prices are in pounds sterling.
We take care with pricing, but if an item is listed at an obviously incorrect price we are not obliged to supply it at that price. We will contact you, explain, and give you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.
Payment
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Currently these are:
- PayPal — you are taken to PayPal to approve the payment. We never see or store your card details.
- Bank transfer — your order is placed and held, and we email you our details with a payment reference. We begin preparing your order once the transfer reaches us. Please always quote the reference.
Goods remain our property until paid for in full. Where payment is not received for an order awaiting bank transfer, we may cancel it and release the stock, and we will contact you before doing so.
See ways to pay for a fuller explanation of each method.
Availability and stock
Availability shown online is the stock we hold for web orders. Counter stock at each branch is not published online, so if you intend to visit for a specific item please call first and we will check.
Stock is reserved for you when your order is placed. Occasionally an item becomes unavailable between your order and our picking it — if that happens we will contact you promptly with the options.
Product images are illustrative. Specifications listed on a product page are the authoritative description; if a detail matters to your job, check the specification or ask us.
Delivery and collection
Collection is available from either branch. Choose it at checkout and we will email you when your order is ready. Please wait for that email before travelling. You will need your order number to collect.
Delivery terms, charges and timescales are being finalised by the business and will be set out on the delivery and returns page. Until then, please contact us for a delivery quote.
Risk in the goods passes to you when you or someone you have nominated takes possession of them.
Cancellation and returns
Your statutory rights. If you are a consumer buying online, you generally have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods and a further 14 days to return them, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Certain goods — such as items made to your specification or cut to your measurements — are excluded by those regulations. Separately, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights if goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose.
Romanys’ own returns procedure — how to start a return, who pays return carriage, how refunds are issued, and how trade purchases are treated — is being confirmed by the business and will be published on the delivery and returns page. Nothing in that procedure will reduce the statutory rights described above.
In the meantime, if something is wrong with an order please contact us with your order number and we will put it right.
Accounts, discounts and rewards
You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.
Trade account terms and any agreed pricing are set out when your application is approved and are personal to your account. Account pricing, vouchers and reward points are applied by our systems at the time of the order; where a voucher cannot be combined with another discount, your basket will say so before you pay.
Reward points have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money. The earn and redemption rates are set by the business and published on the rewards page. We may vary or end the programme, and we will give notice on that page before doing so.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used fraudulently, or to obtain discounts it is not entitled to.
Liability
The limits of liability that apply to trade and business customers are with the business’s advisers for approval and will be set out here.
In all cases, and whatever those terms end up saying, we do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Products must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and any applicable safety requirements. Advice we give about product suitability is given in good faith on the information you provide; where a job is structural, load-bearing, electrical, gas or fire-related, please take qualified professional advice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
